Kevin Painter returned to the big stage at the
World Seniors Darts Championship with a tense win over Tony O'Shea where he was sent all the way by 'Silverback'.
"I was comfortable and I thought I was going to be off the stage in another ten minutes and then next thing 45 minutes later and we're still up there. It was a difficult game, I'm just pleased to get through," said Painter.
"I hit a lot of poor scores after hitting a good score, that was my problem. I go up 140, next throw I'm hitting like 45 or I break Tony's throw then start off poorly and give it back. Inconsistency with us lads who have not been playing on the ProTour, you're going to get that."
He also discussed Robert Thornton's performance and that he like the others fancies his chances.
"Robert's a class player and he'll fancy his chances. We all fancy our chances, some more than others. I've got to play better, more consistent than that."
As well as speaking on missing the big stage and all that comes with it.
"That was what I missed packing up being a pro dart player. I do miss this sort of thing, that's what I do best. I still think I'm as good as I was ten years ago, I'm still very competitive and aggressive."
