Robert Thornton is through to the semi-finals of the World Seniors Darts Championship after easing past Dave Prins and will now face Kevin Painter for a spot in the final and despite the quickness of the display, it was due to the heat more than anything.
"I felt comfortable playing that quick, it took me a little bit of time to adjust. It's absolutely boiling up there so you want to get off quick but I absolutely felt comfortable up there," he said post match.
But for Thornton, it is still very much one game at a time despite being pleased to reverse the form book against Prins.
"It's got another two games to go yet but I'm ecstatic with the result. He never got going and I managed to pinch the first set. That wasn't a great performance, I've played Davey many times and we have a lot of respect for each other. We know how each other can play and I must admit it's nice to get one up on him because he turned me over last time I played him."
Also for 'The Thorn', he revealed the drive and determination is there for one last crack at the PDC Tour.
"I felt out of love with the game for a couple of years and it was because of personal problems. I do want my Tour Card back, my drive is just as big as it was 10 years ago."
