Kevin Painter continued his run at the
World Seniors Darts Championship breezing past Phil Taylor in a superb display to reach the semi-finals.
It ends a run of 31 straight defeats and sees Painter get one over Taylor on the stage of one of his greatest near misses.
"It wasn't a classic game, I think everyone expected it to be nuts. But I ain't beat Phil (Taylor) many times and it was nice just to win the game," said Painter post match.
"Me and Phil have had many battles here over the years. But neither of us are as good as we used to be."
"I didn't know what to expect from Phil. He packed up four or five years ago now. But you're not going to play your best darts, we're not going to do that. Last time I played on stage was four years ago. I'm grateful just for winning."
Next up is Robert Thornton and he talked up the tie and believes the now extended format will help.
"It'll be a good game. It's over seven sets so I can relax slightly a bit more but it'll be cutthroat again. Robert will obviously fancy his chances and I will fancy it more."
