Vincent van der Voort missed out on participation in the PDC's World Darts Championship, but will be seen at another world championship in 2025. 'The Dutch Destroyer' is competing at the World Seniors Darts Championship.

Van der Voort previously announced that he no longer wants to play on the PDC circuit in 2025. Van der Voort played annually at the World Darts Championship from 2008 to 2022, while from 2007 to 2007 he also played at Lakeside.

Now Van der Voort will have a shot at the world title at a third organization. The senior World Championship falls under the banner of the World Seniors Darts. This federation organized tournaments for darters as young as 50 until this year, but from 2025 the minimum age has been set at 45.

As a result, 'Fast Vinnie' is eligible to play in the senior World Champioship, which will take place at Circus Tavern in Purfleet from February 20-22, 2025. John Henderson, Steve Beaton and Robert Thornton, among others, will also participate. Thornton and Henderson's participation, however, is subject to the condition that they do not have a PDC Tour Card in 2025.

“I am really pleased to receive an invite to play in the WSD Seniors World Championship, and I was more than happy to accept this” said van der Voort.

“The standard in Seniors darts is getting better and better, and I’m looking forward to playing against some of the best players on the circuit”.

“I’ll be looking to get my hands on the trophy for sure in Purfleet”.

Jason Francis, WSD Co-founder, said; “We are delighted that Vincent has accepted an invite to join us at the 2025 Seniors Darts World Championship. He is an instantly recognisable name and face in the sport, and will be a fantastic addition to an already strong line-up in Purfleet. We look forward to seeing him at the Tavern in February”.
