Olly Croft passed away on Saturday, aged 90. Croft is known as founder of the British Darts Organisation (BDO) in 1973.
Croft ran the BDO from its inception in 1973 until he was voted off the board in August 2011. Croft was succeeded by former chairman Wayne Williams.
He was visited by Andy Fordham earlier this week, as Croft celebrated his 90th birthday on November 17. A picture of this visit from the former World Champion was posted on social media.
A number of darts stars, including former world champions Phil Taylor and Keith Deller, have already paid tribute to Croft on social media.
It’s a very sad day for darts with the passing of Olly Croft. If it wasn’t for Olly myself and many other dart players would never of been able to fulfil our dreams of playing professional darts. Everyone in the BDO & PDC owe a great debt to Olly.. pic.twitter.com/NWD3e3bpyT
