A long-awaited announcement on the BDO World Trophy is coming next week, according to BDO Chairman Des Jacklin who spoke to BBC Radio Lincolnshire on Tuesday night.

The future of the tournament had been in doubt due to the players seemingly not knowing information about the event with a location not yet been announced and ticket sales not starting yet.

Jacklin though teased the announcement in an interview which he had with his local radio station last night; meaning it will likely be resolved shortly.

Last year Glen Durrant won the Men’s World Trophy. He defeated Michael Unterbuchner in the final. ‘Duzza’ will of course not be involved this year; due to making the switch to the PDC in January. Fallon Sherrock is the defending Ladies champion defeating Lorraine Winstanley in Preston.
