Keane Barry is the new BDO World Youth Champion after he defeated reigning champion Leighton Bennett 3-0 in sets this afternoon.
Barry showed once again how good he is adding to his JDC World title; having also made his debut at the PDC World Championship losing out in the end to Vincent van der Voort in the first round having won the Tom Kirby Memorial Irish Matchplay.
17-year old Barry showed himself to be just ahead of Bennett in a match; which despite the 3-0 scoreline as ever in set play did not show the full story. It ended up 3-1, 3-2, 3-2 with Bennett himself missing a 142 checkout to get a set on the board and Barry pounced in the end to claim it.
