The first two matches on a bumper night of action at the 2020 BDO World Championship are complete with Andy Hamilton and Mikuru Suzuki successfully through.
Hamilton had a slow start in his match against Darren Herewini losing the first set as neither player could find their rhythm in the early going but he produced a whitewash set from there and barely looked troubled from there.
He claimed a 3-1 win to defeat the impressive Kiwi and move through to the third round with a 150 checkout and four 180's en route.
Suzuki also had to come from a set down as her title defence begins at a new venue for the second year running for the Japanese ace and she edged past Maria O'Brien 2-1.
The first set did not go to plan by any means for Suzuki as O'Brien claimed it in a whitewash to potentially head towards an early shock victory.
Despite that, Suzuki eased through the next set to set up a decider in the very short format. From there she moved through to the Quarter-Finals surviving what she hopes is her only scare.
