Scott Mitchell became the last semi-finalist in the men's tournament at the BDO World Darts Championship. Scotty Dog edged out Scott Waites after a thriller.
The first six sets all went against the darts, before Mitchell took the lead for the first time as he won the seventh set. Suddenly Waites also won his own set to force a decider.
Mitchell took a 2-0 lead in the last set, but Waites broke back with a stunning 88 finish on the bullseye. Scotty 2 Hotty had one chance to level the match, but missed his opportunity on double 20. Mitchell stepped in and took out 68 to move into the last four.
The former Lakeside champion faces Wayne Warren in the semi-finals, while favourite Jim Williams will meet Mario Vandenbogaerde. The ladies final goes between Lisa Ashton and Mikuru Suzuki.

- Maybe the supposed top players are burnt out from the endless travelling and tournaments, I just don't think they have the dedication or outright desire to win. I think they are more interested in the money and being popular, just keeping their rankings steady. The only thing that mattered to Phil Taylor was winning, not winning a few games to top up the money pot and seeking the fans attention. Maybe there is too many tournaments now and the enthusiasm is gone. This year especially has seen so many different winners and unexpected draws and line ups.richieburnettrocks14-11-2024
