Jonny Clayton has produced a sensational display to dump out Michael van Gerwen from the 2020 Masters in Milton Keynes.
Clayton ended up winning 10-6 in what is a first defeat for Van Gerwen in the tournament since 2014.
‘The Ferret’ started as he meant to go on making a dream start including a 116 checkout and he went into a 4-1 lead at the interval.
Despite that though Clayton started to miss darts at doubles and this allowed Van Gerwen a path back into the contest.
He broke to trail 4-2 and despite Clayton moving further ahead at 5-3 up, MVG produced a brilliant mini session to make it 5-5, with Clayton at 26 percent on doubles not a good sign against Mighty Mike.
Despite that MVG wasn’t firing on doubles either and watched a Clayton go two clear again at 7-5 up as Mighty Mike started to get into a spot of bother.
This was further underlined with more fatal missed darts at double allowing Clayton another break and he finished 66 from there to go one away.
Van Gerwen saves his skin with a 164 checkout in sensational fashion when Clayton missed bull for the match but it only prolonged the match and Clayton completed the feat from there.
