Jeffrey de Zwaan is through to the third round at the 2020 PDC World Championship after coming from the brink of elimination against Darin Young.

De Zwaan was 2-1 down against ‘Big Daddy’ and 2-0 down in the requisite set but he produced some brilliant darts to come back and claim victory. That means the end to the hopes of the giant killer who previously knocked out JDZ’s mentor Raymond van Barneveld.

Young took the first set as he set off in the quest of another upset as he took the first set 3-1 with 75 percent on the doubles.

De Zwaan was a lot better in the requisite set and won it 3-0 hitting 40 to do so to put it back up in the air against the American.

He answered that though going 2-1 up in sets; hitting a 104 checkout to move 2-1 up and despite it going to a deciding leg, he held his nerve to hit a 13-darter to regain the lead.

Young went one away of the winning line by hitting double 10 but De Zwaan kept the match alive and after ‘Big Daddy’ missed match darts he was on the back foot as De Zwaan stepped in to force a deciding set.

De Zwaan started to find another gear in the deciding set going one way suddenly with a 13 darter and despite Young staying alive with a 76 checkout, ‘The Black Cobra’ finished the job to complete the unlikely turnaround.
