Starting on Saturday, July 17, at The Winter Gardens in Blackpool, the most important darting title after the World Championship will be fought for: the World Matchplay. This features a total of 700,000 pounds in the prize fund including 150,000 for the winner. A year ago Dimitri Van den Bergh experienced his breakthrough by winning the final against Gary Anderson 18-10.
For this 28th edition it is difficult to point out a top favorite. Of course world champions Gerwyn Price and Michael van Gerwen are top contenders, but the differences at the top are currently minimal. So we can expect many exciting matches and it is extra fun to put together a team in the Fantasy World Matchplay 2021.
