Lloyd backs Wright for World Matchplay glory: "I've been sucked into his hype"

Colin Lloyd has backed Peter Wright for World Matchplay glory ahead of the showpiece tournament returning to Blackpool from tonight (Saturday).

Lloyd believes his recent form with his new darts in particular are a sign of how well he's playing and that 'Snakebite's focus will be there to add the second biggest tournament to his resume.

"I've been sucked into his hype, I'm going to go with Peter Wright," said Lloyd on The Darts Show podcast.

"I like the fact that he's only had these gold darts a couple of weeks and listen anybody who can beat Michael van Gerwen 8-2 when Michael's averaging between 105-106, possibly higher at some point in that match.

"They're throwing some seriously good stuff and we know that Peter's someone who focuses and takes his darts very seriously especially when it is the second biggest ranked tournament on the calendar."
