English darts promising Lewis Cook achieved his first feat on a major stage on Sunday. The 17-year-old player from Essex won the JDC Super 16 in Wolverhampton, giving him his first taste of the real PDC stage shortly before the final of the Grand Slam of Darts.
Cook faced Ellis Hadfield in the final, in what has now become an established tradition: the JDC Super 16 final played prior to a PDC main event. On the stage at the WV Active Aldersley, the young Englishman showed no trace of nervousness.
After a balanced start, Cook shifted up a gear and with four consecutive legs pulled off the match convincingly. With a 5-1 victory, he secured the title and confirmed his status as one of British darts' greatest youth talents.
The win in Wolverhampton is not the only one on Cook's record. The youngster previously won the JDC European Open in both 2024 and 2025. Remarkably, at this year's edition, he defeated his own brother Alfie Cook in the final, further extending his family glory at youth international tournaments.
With this title, Cook succeeds Jack Johnson as champion of the JDC Super 16 and seems ready for the next step toward the professional circuit. A busy period is about to begin for junior darters. The next big opportunity on a PDC stage is the JDC Junior World Championship final, to be played at Alexandra Palace on December 20, traditionally during the World Darts Championship. The earlier rounds of that tournament take place Nov. 24 to 28 in Gibraltar, during the annual youth darts festival.
