- Spot on. Darts is living in a Littler-inspired bubble at the moment, and it will eventually burst. The PDC now has an important decision to make regarding the rankings. If they remain money-based, it will be seen as proof that the governing body only cares about a small group of elite players at the top and does not want them to be disturbed. There needs to be a return to a points system.
- Should never have gone to £1,000,000 from £500k, incrementally say over 5 years. Future problem could be if Paddy Power pull out as sponsor, would anyone else cough up that amount? What if a future Government changes the rules on who can sponsor? There is only one way to go with gambling money and thats backwards.
Whatever system is used needs to be in place before the Next World Championships otherwise it will skew the rankings if implemented after.
- Neil Duff has already beaten you to it.
- treds...
- Brilliant match to watch and to see MVG play a good match again.
Wessel Nijman played so well.
You could see how much it meant to Michael with his young family in the audience.
- Sorry and sad to hear this news about Jamie.
I first met him at Lakeside in 92, I wasn't a fan at first as I liked Kevin Kenny and the crowd were very pro Jamie but once he went to the PDC and he walked to the stage to that Loch Lomond song I became a fan and would sing with the crowd until I was hoarse.
On the bonnie bonnie banks of Loch Lomond. You'll take the high road and I'll take the low road,
And I'll be in Scotland afore you.
A cool player when the PDC had characters.
Thank you for the happy memories Jamie.
- A fantastic bloke,another gone too soon,but a top lad!
- Ted had a fantastic throwing action. Ok,he was marmite, but they're still selling it!!
- Why does someone need a three man management team to play darts?
- Inviting the last 8 of majors to the World Series events would mix it up and with local qualifying tournaments could turn both the Series and Finals into ranking events. This year you could have had:
Bahrain and Dutch (Worlds): Littler, MVG, Dobey, Bunting, Rydz, Price, Aspinall, Wright
Nordic (Masters): Humphries, Clayton, Noppert, Van den Bergh, Heta, Littler, Aspinall, Bunting
US and Poland (UK Open): Littler, Wade, Clayton, Rock, van Veen, Humphries, Michael Smith, Aspinall
Aus and NZ (Matchplay): Littler, Wade, Clayton, Rock, Gilding, Price, van Veen, Bunting
Surely that's better than the same 8 players and invited subs doing effective exhibitions half the year?
