Gulliver very candid about alcohol addiction and depression: "You don't realise you are in that situation"

A 10-time Women's World Darts Champion, Trina Gulliver is one of the most successful darters of all time. Throughout her life however, she has had ups and downs as she admits herself.

"I'm a recovering alcoholic and it's three and a half years now since I've had a drink, I'm very proud of that but looking back now you don't realize you're in that situation," Gulliver says in a very candid discussion following a recent MODUS Super Series. "Looking back now once I'm out, it's hard it's hard to understand why you didn't see it."

"Everybody else saw it it's purely denial," she admits. "I'd completely lost myself. I didn't know where I was going, I didn't have direction in my life. I was completely lost, I was trying to find the answers and unfortunately, I tried to find the answers in the bottle so to speak which is not the answer of course."

"But it takes a lot to realise that. I had to reach rock bottom to understand and it become a life-threatening situation for me to take note and do something about it," she concludes.
