"I hope that more Germans will play here": Wenig makes history as first German to qualify for MODUS Super Series Champions Week

The revolution in German darts continues. One of the most fervent fanbases in the whole sport, more and more German players have been making an impact in recent years and now Lukas Wenig has become the first man from his nation to qualify for the MODUS Super Series Champions Week.

"I can't believe it," Wenig told Henry Deacon following his week nine win over John Henderson. "I feel good because the week was not so good for me. I didn't feel confident and it was hard."

"I thought I was out. I had my jacket on was getting ready to go but Chris said 'no you are in,'" Wenig continued. The German believes that the second chance he felt he'd recieved allowed him to relax and begin throwing with freedom, producing his best darts.

"Once my head changed, the game against Neil was my best game of the week. I played fantastic," he explains. "Against John I was really confused at the start because it wasn't working. I thought 'what the f*ck?' But in the end I played fantastic and it was good enough."
