Steve West has won playing week 11 of the Modus Super Series 8. The 49-year-old Englishman was too strong for Richie Howson in the final, 4-1, winning his fifth weekly title in the process.
It was a particularly emotional win for West, six months ago he had surgery on his hip and last week he got married. "I don't know what to say. I'm in bits at the minute," an emotional West reflected in his post-match interview afterwards. "I just wanted to do well. Just show that maybe I'm coming back a little bit. I thought I'd be going home on the Thursday night, but here we are."
With this latest success, West becomes the first player in Modus Super Series history to win five weekly titles. "I needed to battle. There is a lot of good players here and there has been this whole week. To get through it just means so much," West says, fighting back the tears. "This is definitely the best one of the lot."

Further heightening the emotion for West was the fact that many of his friends and family were present to watch his success. "It's the first time I've played on stage and with the cameras, in front of my children," he explains. "My brother, my ex-wife, her boyfriend, they're all here. It's honestly unbelievable and I appreciate it so much."
Because of his participation in the Modus Super Series, West has not yet had time to go on a honeymoon so hopefully now, the Englishman will get the chance to enjoy some time away with his new wife. This week marks game week 12 of the Modus Super Series 8, and the following week the 12 weekly winners (which now includes West) will be in action on finals week, where the winner will receive a cheque for the sum of £20,000.
