In their first match of the day, Jimmy van Schie and Damian Mol faced off. Van Schie eventually won the match 4-3, despite twelve missed match darts.
The commentator at the game was quick to refer to the vast difference in height of the players when he joked that Mol looked as small as his animal namesake. "Talking about big, they don't get much bigger and much taller than Jimmy Van Schie do they," he says. "Making Damian Mol, well, look like a mole. Big size difference."
In the standings after one day, Van Schie is currently penultimate; he managed to win two of his five matches. Mol, on the other hand, did not manage to win a single match yet and is therefore at the bottom. The group winner after three days qualifies directly for the final on Saturday, the other players get another chance on Thursday and Friday. The tournament continues tomorrow.
