Fallon Sherrock is eagerly looking forward to her appearance in the International Pairs Week of the MODUS Super Series. The Englishwoman is teaming up with former Lakeside champion
Steve Beaton and views the tournament as a special chance to represent her country again.
For
Sherrock, it will be her debut in the international pairs event, and playing alongside the experienced Beaton makes it extra special. “I'm really looking forward to it, especially to play with Steve,” she said He's such an icon. He's such like an asset to Darts as it is, and to have the privilege to play with him, I can't wait."
Sherrock and Beaton have known each other for some time from exhibitions and tournaments, but they haven’t often played together. According to the Englishwoman, that makes it even more enjoyable to line up as a team now.
"So I only know him seeing him at exhibitions and then we'll have a laugh, and obviously I had the privilege of playing with him at the Worlds, and obviously he beat me at the Worlds, so I know the calibre of player he is."
It's coming home - Sherrock
The ‘Queen of the Palace’ expects the pair will not only have fun but also be competitive. "He's a great laugh and someone to play, like I'm actually really excited to play pairs with him because I think we'll have a great laugh as we're doing it, and hopefully we can bring out our standard of Darts."
For Sherrock, it means a lot to pull on the England shirt again. The invitation wasn’t a given for her, which makes the selection feel even more special. "I know, I'm a bit shocked that I got asked, but you never know. Maybe I'll just turn up on that day, but yeah, no, I'm quite proud of being representative of England."
Getting used to pairs
Playing pairs is a different challenge for Sherrock than most events she plays these days. The Englishwoman mainly competes in singles and expects the rhythm will take a moment to adjust.
"Probably just the waiting time. I think I'm just going to have to get used to like playing pairs again, because I think it's been a while since I've played pairs, because I'm used to just playing singles, but I'm just going to go enjoy myself and hopefully my game can shine through and not let him down."
Fallon Sherrock is going for the win with the legendary Steve Beaton.
England has not yet won the pairs event, but Sherrock has clear intentions. Together with Beaton, she wants to change that. "Oh, we're going to win it. Me and Steve are going to win it. I'm just putting it out there right now. I'd love to bring it home."
The International Pairs Week of the MODUS Super Series starts on Monday, 20/04. A total of twelve countries will take part in the pairs event.
