Noa-Lynn van Leuven has reached another important milestone in her darts career. The Dutch player announced via social media that she has once again been selected for the national team of the World Darts Federation (WDF). This time she will compete in the open category, which makes the achievement even more special for her.
New rules don’t stop Van Leuven
The selection comes at a time when various
new rules and changes have been implemented in international darts. For example, trans players are no longer allowed to compete in the women’s category and are required to play in the open category. According to Van Leuven, it was therefore far from certain that she would once again be part of the Dutch team.
“Proud is honestly an understatement right now,”
Van Leuven wrote on Instagram. “I’ve officially qualified again for the Dutch team, and this time in the open category. With all the new rules and changes this year, it definitely wasn’t a given… which makes this one feel even more special."
In recent years, Van Leuven has developed into a mainstay in international darts. She regularly represents the Netherlands at major tournaments and continues to test herself against the international elite. Her new selection means she can once again pull on the national shirt and represent the country at the highest level.
“Grateful, proud and very excited”
"Grateful, proud and very excited to wear orange again and represent the Netherlands,” she added. For many Dutch athletes, playing for the national team remains a special moment, and it’s no different for Van Leuven.
She also won’t have to wait long for her next international challenge. In two weeks, the 4 Nations Cup is already on the schedule. That tournament brings together several national teams and often serves as a key test on the way to larger international championships within the WDF structure.
Noa-Lynn van Leuven will be in action at the 4 Nations Cup in two weeks
Van Leuven is clearly looking forward to competing with the Dutch team again. “Next stop: the 4 Nations Cup in two weeks. Let’s go.”
With her new selection, Van Leuven reaffirms her place within the Dutch darts setup. The coming weeks will show how far the team can go on the international stage, but the motivation is already high. For Van Leuven, one thing is certain: wearing the Dutch shirt remains an honour — and an extra motivation to keep performing at the highest level.
