The MODUS Super Series is hosting a "Legends Week" this week. In it, Steve Beaton has qualified first for Saturday's Final Stage. 'The Bronzed Adonis' handed in his Tour Card after the conclusion of the PDC World Darts Championship, but proved he is still a player to be reckoned with and won his group by a wide margin.
The MODUS Super Series is a weekly tournament with 12 players competing Monday through Friday for a spot in the final group, which takes place on Saturday night. The player who finishes first after three sessions qualifies directly for the final night on Saturday night. On final night, players compete in a small group stage, followed by semifinals and a final to determine the weekly winner.
The competition begins again the following week, with twelve new players competing for the title. After twelve weeks of competition, all weekly winners compete in "Champions Week," which is played every thirteen weeks of play to determine who wins the series and one with the top prize of £20,000.
'Legends Week' takes place this week, with players such as Steve Beaton, Vincent van der Voort, Robert Thornton and Richie Burnett in action.
Beaton won his group by finishing first with 22 points, the 60-year-old Englishman winning 11 of his 15 matches. With that, he counts four more points than numbers two and three, Neil Duff and Richie Burnett. Ritchie Howson counts 16 points, Devon Petersen 14 and Robert Thornton closes the row with two points.
The numbers two through six in this group will now be divided into two new groups that will play Thursday and Friday for the remaining places in the Final Stage. Vincent van der Voort will also be in action starting Thursday.
