VIDEO: John Henderson narrowly misses bull for double-start nine-darter on MODUS Super Series

John Henderson was awfully close to a very special nine darter on Tuesday afternoon. 'The Scottish Highlander' missed the double for a nine darter in the MODUS Super Series, where the double-in double-out format is being played this week.

Henderson played a match against Robert Thornton on the second day of the MODUS Super Series on Tuesday. After three legs, the score was 2-1 in Thornton's favor. Henderson then started the fourth leg with a 160 score and a 180 score. That meant the Scot was on 161 after two visits. Henderson then hit the treble 20 and treble 17, but then just failed to hit the bullseye.

His opponent Thornton is one of the few players who did throw a nine darter in a leg where the leg must also be opened with the double. Thornton did this in his match against James Wade at the 2014 World Grand Prix, after Wade himself had also thrown a perfect leg earlier that match.

Brendan Dolan also has a double-in double-out nine darter to his name. Dolan accomplished this feat at the World Grand Prix in 2011, earning him the nickname The History Maker.
