Peter Wachiuri made his presence felt earlier this year. The Kenyan was the first player from his country to compete in the MODUS Super Series. Moreover, he did far from poor there, even reaching the finals once.
We got to know Wachiuri a little better in an interview conducted by former pro darter Devon Petersen. "I used to go there and see some old men playing darts in the pub. So I was interested," Wachiuri said.
"I just had a normal set of darts like from the carnival, I used the ones with the plastic on the barrel."

That path eventually led him to the MODUS Super Series, where he made quite an impression. He couldn't sum up how it was to play in front of the camera for the first time apart from that it was like a cauldron. "It was pressure to be here. I didn't think I was going to the finals, I was just doing my best. I was just coming to enjoy myself," he added.
Wachiuri's final berth received much resonance in his own country; upon his return to Kenya, he was received as a hero. "In my country there are a lot of players, they are there. The thing we lack is that chance of coming here. But I think you see there are some more good players than Peter Wachiuri."
Mentor
Wachiuri though said he had two players who he looks up to massively who are both World Champions. "I was looking up to Peter Wright, he was my motivator. But now I'm looking at Luke Humphries. Peter was my idol."
