The World Matchplay is complete and Gary Anderson as well as claiming the title also claimed the highest average in the tournament with an effort of 106.06.
This came in Anderson’s win over Jeffrey de Zwaan with the Scot full of admiration for the Dutchman throughout.
Peter Wright was second with 105.60 followed by Mensur Suljovic who saved his best effort for the final, this was 104.43 which was still not good enough to win.
Anderson features twice more on the list in fourth and ninth showing the consistency throughout the whole tournament.
Also on the list include Jeffrey de Zwaan, Joe Cullen and Dave Chisnall who all similarly had good tournaments.
Overall the average of all the players was at 94.67 with quite a lot of the early averages in the early 90’s and late 80’s.
