McGeeney in Pole Position in Race for Winmau World Masters

The 45^th staging of the world’s longest-running darts major takes place at Bridlington Spa, Yorkshire on October 4-7. The top 16 men and eight women players in the BDO rankings by the September 9 cut-off date will qualify as seeds for the stage matches with other players having to compete on the floor.
McGeeney, who has been a Winmau World Masters runner-up for the last two years, is looking to go one place better and will be delighted at his ranking table-topping form. Points from his third and fifth places at the BDO International Open and Welsh Masters are enough to take him above two-time Winmau World Master, Glenn Durrant on 355 points which includes 49 points from his win in the World Trophy.
A win in the BDO International Open for Jim Williams, along with third place in the World Trophy, sees the Welshman well-placed in third place in the rankings on 342 points. Twenty-five points further back in fourth is Team Winmau’s Scott Mitchell. He picked up valuable points by winning the England National. Just behind him is Scott Waites.
Making up the rest of the current BDO top 16 are: Ross Montgomery (287 points); Gary Robson (276); Wesley Harms (273); Willem Mandigers (269); Richard Veenstra (257); Dave Parletti (247); Kyle McKinstry (246); Chris Landman( (243); Dirk Telnekes 238); Michael Unterbuchner (236) and Martin Phillips (234).

In the women’s race to the Winmau World Masters, eight players are vying for seed placings and automatic qualification.
England’s Lorraine Winstanley is continuing her strong form. Second place in the World Trophy and BDO International Open, and third in the England Open and Welsh Master, puts her top of the rankings on 435 points.
Compatriot Deta Hedman is close behind on 429 points thanks to strong performances in the England Open, Swiss Open, BDO International Open and Welsh Open.
Third placed is Holland’s Aileen de Graaf on 410 points, due largely to the 42 points she earned as runner up in the England Open. The victor on that day was Lisa Ashton, who also won the LDO Ladies Classic. Those wins, plus a fifth place in the World Trophy put her on 396 points.
The other women players currently ranked in the BDO top eight are: Anastasia Dobromyslova (384 points); Fallon Sherrock (382); Sharon Prins (331) and Corrine Hammond (302). Team Winmau player and 10-time Lakeside World Champion, Trina Gulliver MBE, is ninth on 281 points.
