Anderson said that if he wasn’t to win another leg or match in his career he wouldn’t lose sleep over it and it is just a hobby to him.
’The Flying Scotsman’ has long stated this and it is one of the reasons he never held the World Matchplay in high regard as a tournament.
He said: "I've made a few semi-finals in Blackpool but my record here has not been great so to walk away with the trophy is very special.
"It's never bothered me that I hadn't won it. I've always played darts for fun, always treated it as a hobby. My career and what I've done, I'm over the moon with the wins over 20 years.
"If I was never to win another leg or match, I wouldn't lose sleep over it.
"This is another notch in the belt now and something to tell the grandkids about."
