'Apocalypse' Darren Herewini a 26-year old sprinkler technician will make his TV debut in this weekends World Series event, the Auckland Darts Masters.
He beat Mike Keen, Casey Matthews, Tahuna Irwin and former winner on the World Series stage Clinton 'Tic' Bridge before beating Koha Kokiri who recently qualified for the Melbourne Darts Masters and Perth Darts Masters in the final 6-4 to qualify.
Now he has the chance of a lifetime as he was drawn against darting legend Phil Taylor and for Herewini he sees it as a big opportunity.
"I wanted to actually draw him just to get that chance to play him. Whether I win or lose, I'll gain experience.
"Just to play the legend himself is a pleasure, a real pleasure," he said in an interview with RadioNZ ahead of the ournament.

And as for the pressure of playing in his first Auckland Darts Masters against the greatest player of the game, Herewini said he'd take it all in his stride.

"That's what this game is all about. The first time up on the stage, there's going to be a little bit of nerves.
"It's just something you've got to work off. I'll use it to my advantage and hopefully play well. It'll be fun," he said.
