Nathan Aspinall is through to his maiden PDC major final after seeing off Gerwyn Price at the UK Open in a thriller.

Aspinall played brilliantly throughout and had to show real resolve to soak up late pressure from an in form Iceman. This continues the rise of the Stockport ace who only a year ago had to go back to Q-School, now he is staking his claim amongst the world’s elite. Aspinall endured a dream start to proceedings going 2-0 up against the heavily fancied Price. By the first interval he had opened up a three leg cushion on ‘The Iceman’ going 4-1 up. He extended that to 6-1 before Price finally picked up another leg to ironic cheers. Despite that, he could only add another leg before the interval with ‘The Asp’ giving Price a tumultuous task. This was made harder by him going two legs away from the final at 9-4. He showed his resolve by smashing in some important legs to reduce the size of the task. So much so it was 10-9 in a blink of an eye with the momentum potentially on the side of the Welshman. Despite that though, he couldn’t afford any mistakes and this allowed Aspinall to sneak through to his maiden PDC major final. for more information about the UK Open including the schedule, prize fund breakdown, TV coverage and format.
