Eric Bristow has passed away at the age of 60 after a heart attack earlier this evening. The five times World Champion is one of the biggest names in the history of the sport claiming 5 World titles between 1980-1986.

Nicknamed 'The Crafty Cockney', Bristow also claimed the World Masters five times to add to these darts titles and also helped launch the career of Phil 'The Power' Taylor in his early days. Bristow was one of the founder players when the PDC broke away from the BDO and he was later inducted into the PDC Hall of Fame before retiring from competition in 2007.
He remained a popular figure on the exhibition circuit and up to recently worked for Sky Sports as a pundit and a spotter. The darting legend was one of only a few players to receive an MBE for his services to sport.
