Former World Youth Champion took on Czech Republic’s World Cup star Karel Sedlacek. Brown was quickest out of the traps with a 180 followed by a 46 finish for the first leg. The Englishman’s average dipped to 78 as Sedlacek broke and then held to go 2-1 ahead in the set. Both players scored heavily in the set’s deciding leg but it was Brown who nicked the set with a 48 finish.
It was “Evil Charlie” who set the pace at the beginning of the second set. He produced the game’s first ton plus finish with a 106 checkout on double 16. Sedlacek also hit a 180 in the next leg which he won for his second leg of the set. However, Brown completed an impressive comeback, he won three consecutive legs to steal the set.
The “Needle” moved closer to victory as he won the first two legs of the set, finding a 47 finish to go a leg from victory. Brown wired the bullseye for a 170 finish which allowed Sedlacek to capitalize. The Czech failed to mount an effective comeback and in the final leg, Brown landed a 13 dart leg to seal victory.
