Chisnall faced ‘The Maximiser’ who of course was a recent second time ranking winner for this year but it was all too easy for the St Helens ace. In the first set he took out 100 to complete a 3-1 set win with 3/4 on the doubles and three 180’s. At the start of the second, Hopp missed five darts at double and Chizzy pounced to make it 1-0. The German came back into it by firing in an 87 finish and pressuring in the following leg but he couldn’t claw back a set and so it was a 2-0 win for Chisnall. He will now face Raymond van Barneveld in what could be a brilliant showdown on the Emerald Isle. Gurney similarly had it pretty easy against a player who was mightily impressive in the double start format 12 months ago, John Henderson. ‘Hendo’ saw off Michael van Gerwen and lost to Gurney in the semi-finals but couldn’t exact revenge this time around. The first set was quite tight with Henderson taking the lead before Gurney managed to hit the front. He wrapped up the set after The Highlander missed three darts at doubles to square the set up. The same sort of set happened next time out with Gurney this time hitting the front only for Henderson to square it up. He missed more darts at doubles and was punished by ‘Superchin’ who went on to claim the win with ease. for more information about the
