Corey Cadby picked up another win to advance to the Semi-Finals to take on the man he beat last year in Perth, Phil Taylor. He beat Michael Smith 10-5 in a battle of the World Youth Champions.
Smith started with a 180 but Cadby came back to hit tops to hold his throw in the opening leg. The Bully Boy came back with a D8 finish but Cadby made it 2-1 by taking out 64.
He followed that up with an 80 finish to open a 2 leg cushion on the St Helens ace. The King made it 4-1 with a 38 finish at the interval. Cadby extended his lead to 5-1 and looked like he was coasting to victory.
Smith though in the following leg broke the throw of the young Aussie with a 74 finish to make it 5-2. This break meant nothing though as Corey went 6-2 up with another break. Another break occured though with Smith getting it again hitting D18 to grab it and close the gap to 6-3
Once again a break occured and Cadby hit D10 to get it and restore his four leg cushion at 7-3 at the interval. When they returned Smith took out 78 against the throw to trail 7-4. Smith followed that up with a hold of throw on D5 with Cadby waiting on D18. Despite Smith hitting a 180 in the leg, Cadby hit tops to put him at 8-5 up.
Missed darts from Smith allowed Cadby to take out 68 and go within 1 leg of the Semi-Finals and he did hitting D10 to win 10-5!
