Current World Youth Champion Corey Cadby once again stunned 'The Power' Phil Taylor by defeating him 11-8 in the biggest win in his career to reach the final of the Auckland Darts Masters where he takes on fellow Aussie Kyle Anderson and there will also be a new name on the World Series roll of honour with Taylor the last winner in.
First blood went to Cadby who broke the throw in the opening leg hitting D16. A poor leg from Taylor meant that despite Corey’s poor scoring himself he doubled his lead on D4 against an out of sorts Taylor.
Taylor missed yet more darts and Cadby snuck in to break again on D4 for a 3-0 lead. Taylor halted the Cadby charge as the young gun missed two darts at D12 allowing The Power to grab a break back on D17 for his first leg.
Cadby missed D10 for a 134 checkout and Taylor came back to pin the D16 and make it 3-2 at the inteval after being 3-0 down.
Back from the interval, Cadby got a 180 and followed that up by regaining his 2 leg cushion at 4-2 up. The young Aussie followed that up with a 180 and 170 in the following leg but could finish it off and Taylor came back to hold at 4-3 down.
Cadby hit D4 averaging 98 in the following leg to regain the 2 leg cushion again at 5-3 up. Taylor cut it to one behind again hitting D10 to do so. Taylor continued his upward curve and hit a stunning 116 checkout to level it at 5-5 and break the Cadby throw. Taylor went in front for the first time at 6-5 finishing on D16.
Cadby finally got himself a leg back and despite pressure from Taylor he got a 60 checkout for parity at 6-6. Taylor missed two darts at D8 and for a second leg in a row, Cadby took out 60 for the lead to be regained at 7-6.
The King hit a 180 and 140 with the World Youth Champion pinning D5 last dart in hand to regain the two leg cushion at 8-6. In the following leg, Cadby put pressure on the Taylor throw but couldn’t finish it off meaning Taylor was only one behind again.
There was some needle between the two with Cadby grabbing the hold and a 9-7 lead on tops. He continued on and broke Taylor on D9 to go within one at 10-7. Cadby missed 5 match darts and The Power capitalised to hit D19 for 10-8 down. Cadby took out 103 on D18 for the biggest win of his career and to set up a final with fellow Aussie, Kyle Anderson!
