Gurney never looked at the races and Cross took advantage of that winning 7-1 against the Northern Irishman. ‘Superchin’ didn’t play that bad to start the game with him averaging around 92 to Cross’s 102.
Despite that though, Cross stormed to a 3-0 lead. ‘Voltage’ has been going somewhat under the radar this year so far and as this game showed he’s playing well again.
This showed with the Hastings ace extending his lead to five-nil with him crashing in a 153 checkout to go within one leg of a point. He followed that up with a double four to claim a 13 darter to go within one of a crushing win. ‘Superchin’ staved off the whitewash though with an 80 finish to make it 6-1 but after that it was all over.
