Suljovic looked great as per usual and had the luck on his side this time seeing off ‘Snakebite’ Both players averaged similar in the early going but the Austrian surged into the lead.
The world number eight started off with two legs both on his favourite double 14 to go 2-1 up. There was a piece of good fortune in the next leg with Wright missing the bull for a 124 checkout. This allowed Suljovic to pin double six to go further into the lead.
It was extended to 5-1 with him seemingly leaving Wright for dust and roaring towards his first win. Despite that though he had to absorb some late pressure from Wright after he claimed a point smashing in a 121 checkout.
Three legs in a row from Wright saw him trail 6-4 and at this point there seemed to be a real battle again. That was dispelled though with Suljovic ending proceedings to claim a 7-4 win.
