Defending champion Cross eases past Van Barneveld to reach semi-finals in Brisbane

Defending Brisbane Darts Masters champion Rob Cross is the next player through to the semi-finals after easing past Raymond van Barneveld in an 8-4 win.

Van Barneveld averaged more than Cross but only got going at the end of the game which came at the detriment of the five time World Champion with Cross cruising through with little fuss where he will face either Michael van Gerwen or Daryl Gurney.

Cross began proceedings in style with a brilliant 113 checkout against the throw to ask the question of Van Barneveld even in the early going.

He followed it up with a 92 checkout to double his advantage before Van Barneveld finally got off the mark with a 76 checkout to halve the deficit.

'Voltage' though continued his procession pouncing on missed darts at doubles from Van Barneveld to go 4-1 up. He extended that to 5-1 as he edged closer to the finishing line.

As he did so though, Barney started to pounce on missed doubles reducing the deficit to 6-3 but this was too little too late with Cross adding the finishing touches to claim an 8-4 win over the Dutch legend.
