The Swede thrashed Jeffrey Sparidaans 3-0 in a comfortable win at the
Lakeside. Nilsson, who reached a
Euro Tour quarter-final in 2017, won the first set in no time at all. He averaged 105 while Sparidaans, lagging well behind, could only muster a 69 average.
The best players can win gruelling sets as well as simple ones. Nilsson showed off his all-round game to claim the second set in a fifth leg. Sparidaans improved his scoring game and broke, but the Swede bounced back to force a decider. And his scoring proved too much for the young Dutchman, as he took a two-set lead.
The third set was simple enough for 'The Ironman', who averaged 94, and he will take plenty of confidence into his first round clash with ninth seed Williams.
