Sharon Prins will meet top seed Deta Hedman in the second round of the BDO World Championship after a 2-0 defeat of Maria O'Brien.
The scoreline was not reflective of the nature of the contest, which was hard-fought throughout. But Prins' excellent tops and tens hitting saw her through against the Devonshire ace.
O'Brien put the pressure on in the opening set but missed a number of darts at key doubles, allowing Prins to claim an important break in the fourth leg. That handed her the first set, and the Dutch star looked well placed to win.
The unseeded player held her nerve to force the set to a deciding leg, even missing a dart at tops for a 160 checkout. Sharon stepped up when it counted, though, and found the double 20 when it counted most to progress.
