Dobey on thrilling win over Van der Voort: ‘I proved what I can do’

Chris Dobey came through in a thrilling victory over Vincent van der Voort to set up a clash with Gary Anderson.
Dobey spoke afterwards and admitted that he’s over the moon and proved what he can do on the stage.
‘I’m feeling brilliant and I’m over the moon but that was what I needed which was someone pushing me all the way and I proved what I can do,’ said Dobey in an interview with Live Darts.
‘Hollywood’ agreed this was his best TV performance to date, but he thinks he's capable of producing more.
‘Definitely. I’m playing well but I’m capable to produce more. It’s just getting that on the stage. I’m looking forward to my next match that’s for sure.’

- I dont like individuals or crowds trying to put any player off when they are trying to check out, how anyone can think its okay for the crowd to whistle or shout as someone is throwing for a double is beyond me but it does seem to have become part and parcel of the modern game. I no longer play now, darts is as good as dead at a local level round my way but when i did play many years ago, no matter how intense the rivalry you never shouted out or whistled when an opponent from the other team was throwing for a double.Mysstree17-11-2024
