Raymond van Barneveld is through in Perth to face either Daryl Gurney or Peter Wright after defeating
Phil Taylor by 10 legs to 9 in a decider. Barney allowed Taylor back in throughout the match and nearly fluffed his lines again against the 16 times champion but the relief was all to see as the 5 times World Champion made it through in a game full of drama!
Barney started very well and he opened up a 2-0 lead against a slow to get going Taylor. He put pressure on Taylor but fluffed his lines allowing him to gain a leg at 2-1. The Power continued to be out of sorts and Barney took out 81 to get a 3-1 lead. Phil finally woke up and got a leg back at 3-2 behind and with Barney missing darts, it gave him the opportunity to take out 31 to make it 3-3.
At the interval, Barney got a break back once again and was up 4-3. When back from the interval, a 12 darter from Taylor made it 4-4 and a break of throw from the Power.
Barney gained a break back and made it 5-4 and despite not being at his best he hit D5 to make it 6-4. With one dart in hand, RVB took out 69 to make it 7-4. More darts missed by Taylor allowed RVB to hit D20 for 8-4 and to go two away.
Taylor got one back hitting D18 for a 13 darter to make it 8-5 and continued on hitting D16 to make it 8-6 with a break. Taylor made it 3 on the spin at 8-7 down. RVB finally got a leg back to go to within one hitting a 9 checkout on D4.
Barney missed a host of match darts and allowed Taylor to hit D9 to make it 9-8. Hitting a 5 in a 114 checkout allowed Taylor to once again sneak in and take it to a decider at 9-9. Barney finally hit the winning double to vanquish Taylor and reach the Semi-Finals.
