Daryl Gurney got revenge over
Peter Wright for his victory in Melbourne by defeating him 10-4 with a 98 average and 71% on the doubles to face Raymond van Barneveld in the Semi-Finals and continue his great
World Series form so far.
Gurney started well with a 14 darter hitting D6 for the lead and a break in the opening leg. He continued the momentum and hold his throw hitting D8 to make it 2-0. Superchin broke again to make it 3-0 hitting a 97 checkout to do so and he didn’t look like he was going to miss a double.
Wright finally got a leg on the board hitting 121 after changing his throw. He continued his fightback getting a 10 darter on D18 to make it 3-2. Another 12 darter taking out 98 for 3-3 with a 107 average to Snakebite.
Gurney regained the upperhand with a 96 checkout after some missed doubles from Wright and to go into the interval 4-3 up. He continued the momentum and hit 24 on D12 for a 5-3 lead. Wright held his throw with a 97 checkout to go to one behind at 5-4 down. Gurney continued his momentum winning the next two legs including a break to go up 7-4. He extended that lead with a 104 checkout to extend his lead to 8-4 and then went one away at 9-4 up with 87 on the bull!
Gurney finished off D8 to win 10-4 and set up a tie against Barney in the semi-finals.
