Draw revealed for Champions League of Darts: Van Gerwen and Anderson headline Group A

With the World Matchplay over, the race to the Champions League is as well with Simon Whitlock and Dave Chisnall keeping hold of their positions in the competition.
Now the draw for the Champions League groups has been released and in Group A, Michael van Gerwen and Gary Anderson are set to face off at least once in Brighton. Also in Group A are Daryl Gurney and Dave Chisnall. The Champions League format means that every player plays the others in the group but of course can still play each other later on again. This was shown with Mensur Suljovic the defending champion; who played Gary Anderson and beat him twice on his way to winning. Alongside the defending champion in Group B is World Champion, Rob Cross; as well as Simon Whitlock and Peter Wright as the tournament edges closer in Brighton. The third staging of the Champions League of Darts will take place on September 22-23 in Brighton, with live television coverage on BBC Sport. - Maybe the supposed top players are burnt out from the endless travelling and tournaments, I just don't think they have the dedication or outright desire to win. I think they are more interested in the money and being popular, just keeping their rankings steady. The only thing that mattered to Phil Taylor was winning, not winning a few games to top up the money pot and seeking the fans attention. Maybe there is too many tournaments now and the enthusiasm is gone. This year especially has seen so many different winners and unexpected draws and line ups.richieburnettrocks14-11-2024
