Ricky Evans showed once again on Friday evening that his final spot in Maastricht was not a fluke. The Kettering Ace impressed with a 6-1 victory over Andrew Gilding in the first round of the European Darts Trophy.

'Rapid Ricky' kicked off with a 13-dart leg and stormed into a 4-0 lead as he hit a 11-dart leg. Gilding missed the 170 checkout in the fifth leg, but managed to take out 25 to get his first leg. 'Goldfinger' was not able to come closer as Evans took the next two legs to seal the win.
Richard North booked a hard-fought win against Christian Bunse. 'Lionheart' only averaged 79, but hurt his German opponent with crucial 120 and 115 finishes en route to victory.
