Vincent van der Voort produced a terrific display to book a place in the second round of the European Darts Trophy in Göttingen. The Dutchman edged out Simon Stevenson 6-3 to set up a clash with Michael van Gerwen in round two.
'Fast Vinnie' kicked off with two 13-dart legs and a strong 11-dart leg to move 3-0 ahead. In the end Van der Voort won the game with 6-3, while averaging 104. An average he might need to overcome Van Gerwen on Saturday evening.
Jelle Klaasen and Martin Schindler will also return on the stage on Saturday. Klaasen beat Maik Langendorf 6-4, while Schindler delighted his home crowd with a 6-3 victory over Luke Woodhouse.
