The final day of the German Darts Open 2019 kicks off with the third round. Eight ties culminate in a clash between two Dutch darting icons.

First up is a run of five all-British ties. Kicking off that less-than-cosmopolitan quintet of games are Gerwyn Price and Jamie Hughes. Price was below his best in narrowly edging out Steve Beaton, while Hughes to get himself into the last 16 of a European Tour event for the first time since his switch to the PDC. Could the mercurial Tipton thrower make the German Darts Open a major breakthrough tournament? Price will hope not. Rob Cross and Joe Cullen meet for the second tie - the latter with Jerry Hendriks, but will be ready for a bigger challenge. That is followed by John Henderson, who, having ended Max Hopp's title defence after an impressive win over Stephen Bunting, has Adrian Lewis lined up as his next scalp. Ian White and Darren Webster are both after a quarter-final spot to give their respective seasons a boost. After they face off in Saarbrucken, Peter Wright will try to do what he has struggled to so often this year - maintain good form. Dave Chisnall will not be interested in letting Snakebite do to him what he did to Steve Lennon on Saturday.

The final showdown?

In a meeting of two Premier League play-off rivals, Mensur Suljovic seeks to overcome Daryl Gurney. James Wade plays against Nathan Aspinall in Germany - it has been 18 months since their first and only European Tour game, which Wade won 6-1. Now is the Asp's chance to turn the tables.
We don't quite know when Michael van Gerwen and Raymond van Barneveld will play a competitive match for the final time. For all we know, this might be it. Barney, having overpowered a handy duo in Gabriel Clemens and Jermaine Wattimena, may have seen Michael van Gerwen's uninspiring - if wholly routine - win over Dimitri van den Bergh and wondered if maybe, just maybe, he's in with a shout.
