Gerwyn Price 11
Gerwyn Price has reached Round 2 of the World Grand Prix for the first time. 'The Iceman' took out the World Number 11, Michael Smith with three 180's and 50% on the finishing doubles to get through at the Citywest.
Price and Smith exchanged the opening two legs but Price was the first to break taking out 86 to lead 2-1. Price continued on and took the first set in a blistering start for the Iceman who had a 96.6 average in the early going.
Gerwyn looked like he might have been romping to victory but after taking the first leg, Smith took 3 in a row to take the match to a deciding set.
Price didn't let that faze him and he took out an 88 checkout to break in the opening leg of the decider and then continued on hitting tops to make it one away from the finishing line for the Iceman.
Smith though took out 98 to keep proceedings interesting. Gerwyn Price finally grabbed the win to get into the second round for the first time in the Dublin tournament.
