Richard North marked his TV debut with a brilliant win and punished Mark Webster, the number 2 seed due to Gary Anderson's withdrawals' 1/11 on the doubles to set up a clash with friend, Simon Whitlock in round 2.
North started proceedings by hitting D16 for the opening leg. Webster had some poor finishing attempts and North smashed in a 145 checkout for a 2-0 lead.
'The Mouth from the South' continued a remarkable TV debut by taking the first set without reply.
Webby finally got on the board pinning D6 to lead the second set. North though came back to hit D10 to make it 1-1 and more missed doubles from Webster allowed North to go on the verge of the second round at 2-1 up.
Richard North finished off with a 24 checkout on D6 to mark a brilliant TV debut for one of the stars of the tour this year.
