Barry Hearn praises Glen Durrant for Q-School success

Barry Hearn reserved special praise for Glen Durrant following his Q-School triumph.

The three-time Lakeside champion gave up his BDO career to make the switch across codes. Durrant headed to Q-School and battled to success after four days of play. PDC Chairman Hearn singled out the Middlesbrough ace in an interview with Sky Sports at the PDC awards dinner.
"I shouldn't be biased but I am so pleased to see Glen Durrant (win a card) because he must have been under the hugest pressure," said the PDC supremo.
"He is a three-time BDO champion and suddenly after two rounds it doesn't look too good. But he showed his mettle.
"Semi-final on the third day, did enough on the fourth day,"
Durrant joins fellow BDO stars Mark McGeeney, Conan Whitehead and Scott Baker in heading to the PDC. It marks a big step for them and the rest of the new Tour Card holders. With prize funds at unprecedented highs, there are plenty of reasons to be cheerful, according to Hearn.
"I know he is excited to play the tour - as he should be, as all these kids should be," he said.
"They have got £14,15 million to play for, the chance to change their lives."
