Recent Pro Tour Winner 'The Original' Kyle Anderson came from behind to see off former Major Champion Simon Whitlock in a deciding leg shootout. He showed nerves of steel to wrap it up and will face James Wade in the Semi-Finals and could face Taylor/Barney or Cadby/Smith in the final tomorrow!
Whitlock drew first blood and hit 62 to hold throw at 1-0 and followed that up by breaking the throw of Anderson in the second leg. In the following leg both hit 180's but Whitlock hit D10 to extend his lead to 3-0.
Anderson finally got a leg on the board to reduce the defecit to 3-1 with D12. They went into the first break with Whitlock leading 4-1 hitting the D5.
When they returned from the break, Anderson got his 2nd leg on the board holding through on D20. Anderson followed this up with a break on the bull to pull himself within 1 at 4-3, he capped off his revival holding throw to make it 4-4 on D5.
Whitlock returned to form hitting a 180 and D7 with his last dart to lead 5-4 but in a shoddy leg for Whitlock, Anderson took advantage to hold throw and give us a level game at 5-5. Whitlock came back from the break to hit 83 on D18 to edge ahead at 6-5 and followed it up with a break on D9 to lead 7-5.
Anderson broke straight back though due to missed darts from 'The Wizard' to be 7-6 behind and followed it up with a hold of throw for a level game at 7-7. 'The Original' followed that up with a break with a 78 finish. Anderson missed seven darts at double in the following leg allowing Whitlock back into the match with a D10 finish to break.
Whitlock followed this up by wiring a 170 checkout before coming back to hit 25 to be one away at 9-8. But this was on Anderson's throw so Kyle pulled it back to 9-9 to force a decider. A nightmare last leg for 'The Wizard' allowed Anderson to hold his nerve to hit a 47 checkout to win.
